The fourth edition of The Monumental Tournament of Aces took place on Saturday, October 1 at The Links of Gleneagles in Cochrane. Cool temperatures and threatening skies could not dampen the enthusiasm of over 160 golfers as they took to the course in support of this year’s benefactor The LINDSAY Virtual Human Project. For the fourth consecutive year magic happened at the tournament as Jerry Gilbertson recorded a hole in one on the eighth hole bringing the total to 8 aces in 4 years! Following the tournament a fantastic buffet was enjoyed by a crowd of 200 who packed the Terrace Room setting records for Stu Bradley’s live auction and an incredible silent auction. A heartfelt introduction by Dr. Bruce Wright and a presentation of The LINDSAY Project by Dr. Christian Jacob captivated the crowd and at the end of the evening the MTA committee and the Kimmett family turned over a cheque for $100,000.00 to The University of Calgary for base funding of the incredible teaching tool being developed in Lindsay’s name.

On behalf of the Lindsay Leigh Kimmett Memorial Foundation, the Monumental Tournament of Aces co-chairs and golf committee, and the Kimmett family we would like to extend an invitation to you to attend this year’s 4th annual event on Saturday, October 1 at The Links of Gleneagles in Cochrane. Last year’s event was truly memorable in our first year at Gleneagles with incredible weather, sellout crowd, and three more hole in ones bringing the total to 7 in 3 years! Over $63,000 was raised to kickstart the building fund for a new performing arts centre in Cochrane bringing the 3 year tournament total to almost a quarter of a million dollars – the committee and all benefiting from your contributions thank you! This year’s proceeds will be used to fund a special project that would be very dear to Lindsay’s heart – a 3-dimensional, interactive computer model of anatomy and physiology used in the education of medical students being developed by the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Computer Science. The LINDSAY Virtual Human Project is dedicated to Dr. Lindsay Kimmett and will revolutionize the way students are educated leading to better doctors and better outcomes for patients. The website is www.lindsayvirtualhuman.org – please take a look and be prepared to be amazed!

The committee has set a lofty goal of raising $100,000.00 this year to help fund this very important project. So, how can you help! It is very easy – come out on October 1 and have a great time golfing with friends and family and join with us in remembering Lindsay. Below you will find both golfer and sponsor packages – please take the time to check out the new “Monumental Family” entry and the new “Platinum” level of sponsorship. We would then ask you to make your commitment as soon as possible. This makes our committee’s work so much easier in terms of planning when our entry fills up sooner rather than later. To make it easy to commit early please take in to account the following:

All cheques for sponsorships and entries(remember to split cheques for charitable receipt purposes) should be postdated to October 1,11
Golfers have the ability to opt out of the tournament up to 10 days before tournament date with full refund.
All golfers entered by June 15, 2011 go into a special early bird draw of a free round of golf for 4 at The Links of Gleneagles!
